Privacy Policy

Violin Vistas operates this website. Privacy questions or requests: hello@violinvistas.com.

• Account details: your name and email address, and a password if you sign up that way. Passwords are stored in scrambled (hashed) form, so we cannot read them.
• Google sign-in: if you choose “Continue with Google,” Google shares your name, email address and profile photo with us. See the next section.
• Your learning: which videos you have watched and which you have marked complete.
• Payments: Stripe handles your card. We never see or store your card number. We keep a Stripe customer ID and whether your membership is active and when it renews.
• Lessons: when you book a lesson, your name, email and chosen time.
• Videos you upload: if you send us a video of yourself playing for teacher feedback, we store it.
• Email list: your email address if you sign up for updates, for example from the “Start for free” form.
• Free videos: if you signed up for updates, we record when you open your free-videos page, which free videos you play and how far you watch, which links in our emails you open, and which website or link brought you to Violin Vistas.
• Technical data: to keep you signed in and the site secure, we store a sign-in session with your IP address and browser type.

If you sign in with Google, Google tells us three things: your name, your email address and your profile photo. We use them only to create your account, sign you in and show your name on the site.

• We do not read your Gmail, contacts, calendar, Drive or anything else in your Google account.
• We store the sign-in tokens Google gives us only so you stay signed in. We do not use them for anything else.
• We do not sell this information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
• You can stop sharing at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and ask us to delete your account.

Violin Vistas’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

• To run your account, give you access to the videos, and process payments.
• To schedule lessons and give feedback on videos you send.
• To email you about your account and lessons, and, if you signed up for them, to send updates and offers. Every update email has an unsubscribe link.
• To keep the site secure and working.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services below, who help us run the site.

• Google — sign-in, if you choose it.
• Stripe — card payments, memberships and lesson payments. Stripe has its own privacy policy.
• Neon — the database where we store account and progress information.
• Cloudflare — hosts this website and keeps routine technical logs, streams the library videos to you, stores videos you upload, and sends our emails.
• Cal.com — lesson scheduling (your name, email and lesson time).

We may also share information if the law requires it.

• A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in. The site needs it to work.
• Opening your free-videos link sets a cookie for 30 days, so if you create an account in that browser with the same email, you do not have to confirm your email again.
• Your browser remembers which website brought you here until you close the tab, so we can note it if you sign up for updates.
• We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

We keep your information while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account, progress and uploaded videos, except records we must keep for tax or payment reasons (held by Stripe).

• Unsubscribe from updates at any time using the link in any email.
• Cancel your membership as described in our Refund Policy.

A parent or guardian over 18 holds and pays for the account. A child under 13 uses the parent's or guardian's account. The account-holding parent or guardian submits any videos of the child for teacher feedback.

If we make an important change, we will tell you by email or on the site. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
