Sara Peters

As a mother of five children, including two adult children, I have had the privilege of fostering a love of music in our home and teaching the violin to all of my children. In addition to teaching my own children I have also had the joy of running a Suzuki violin studio for many years. During those years, I saw many children develop skills on the violin that they did not think was possible. Through consistent and deliberate practice, repetition and feedback these kids brought their violin to life and created beautiful music.

When I was given the opportunity to write my first book Starting Your Violin Journey, I realized that quality violin training and lessons were not readily accessible to all students and children. As my daughter Viviana and I collaborated on methodical videos that teach foundational violin skills, a vision grew for providing continued online learning that would inspire more students to learn the violin. My hope is that students will realize that developing violin skills at any age is possible through consistent and patient practice and that their work will be rewarded with experiencing the beauty of music and reaching new heights one step at a time. I can't wait to hear how your journey is going and look forward to cheering you along the way!

Student, Violinist, Teacher

Viviana

Hi, I'm Viviana, currently pursuing my Bachelors degree in violin performance. But my story with the instrument started much farther away, in Texas. I began Suzuki lessons with my mom, and eventually moved on to another teacher in my city. Around age sixteen, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in music, which led me to my current studies in Switzerland.

Because of my deep appreciation for the Suzuki method which provided me with foundational skills, I was also intrinsically drawn to teaching. So while in Texas, I completed two Suzuki Teacher Trainings and ran a private violin studio for two years, helping students build strong technical foundations and confidence in their playing.

As I write this, I'm lucky enough to live among the beautiful Swiss Alps, and while here I've rediscovered a love of outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. The trails are a reminder that each step brings me a little closer to the summit and the breathtaking view waiting at the top. That experience isn't so different from the violin journey itself: meaningful progress made one step at a time.

The violin has taken me to so many places—from my family's home in Texas across the ocean to Switzerland, from taking lessons to giving lessons, from hearing concerts to performing in them. In short, places I never thought I'd go. I know that the musical journey you'll begin here will take you, too, to places you've never dreamed of.
